About the talk:
Ultraviolet radiations (UVB, UVA2, and UVA1) have demonstrated impacts on the skin, including carcinogenesis, skin ageing, pigmentation, and immune modulation. Increasing evidences emphasize the role of the solar spectrum far beyond the well-known UV radiations. In particular, High Energy Visible light (blue and violet light) has been demonstrated to induce skin ageing and long-lasting skin hyperpigmentation. Importantly, there are now strong evidences showing that the High Energy Visible light contributes to the pathophysiology and worsening of many pigmentary disorders, including melasma, actinic lentigos and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The actual data and the practical consequences in our daily practice, including how to protect patients against it, will be discussed.
